Hello List, I'm hoping someone out there can tell me what I'm overlooking. I
am bringing a series V back to life after about 26/27 years of sitting around
in the garage. I got most of the electrical sorted out now except I can't get
the ignition warning light to go out after the car is running. All of the
corrective measures I've attempted was after I initially got the car running
and the light wouldn't go out. I've replaced the old Alternator with a
rebuilt Lucas unit - no change, switched out the 4TR Alternator Control
with 3 other used ones - no change, switched out the 6RA Isolating Relay a
few times (I could feel them click in and out when I turned the ignition
switch on/off so I don't think these units were bad) - but never the less no
change, changed the warning lamp control 3AW with two other used
ones...........one gave the same results (light on all the
time)------------the other two....... I got no'"warning" light at all with the
ignition switch on/off. I've checked all of the wires against the wiring
diagram in the shop manual (several times in fact!). I've checked everything
I can think of, in reading the shop manual it sounds like the most likely
culprit is the 3AW. I took the covers off two of the 3AW's and hooked them up
but didn't see contact arm action when the current was applied, I am thinking
all of my used 3AW's may be bad. Any thoughts or comments would be greatly
appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help.
