ayer late entry

I am aware of the Ayer Late entry fee, but how late is too late?
can I show up friday and sign up or do I need to get somthing in this week,  
I was told yesterday I may need to attend a Nat tour event to be eligable to 
compete at topeka this year. Is this correct?..

I'm rushing to get the car peiced together and I hope to be done by Friday 
morning...   What else do I need to know, since this is my first nat. tour 
event.
