The skidpad was an idea that Andy Andrews and I had for the 95 Nationals. 
However, all attempts to find someone or a region to take it on as a 
project and provide the necessary control and safety stewards failed. 
Therefor no skidpad. We did have a couple of people use the area designated 
as a skidpad until we roped it off.

Or are you referring to the skidpad setup in Salina in 1986 and operated by 
I think Dick Turner?

Whatever happened to the skidpad setup at the Nationals, anyway?

It hasn't been all that long ago that a specific area was set up so
drivers could assess/adjust their cars on site, wear-in/heat cycle new
tires, etc.  That was a handy thing to have available, IMHO.  Anyone
know why it went away?
