Wish I had some great Nationals stories to relate this week, but I just
wasn't there. Next year. Honest, trust me, etc.

But I did have an interesting weekend, finally got to autocross after six or
seven weeks of not getting to any events. My third run was great, it really
sucked! Basically the Killer Spit was starting to hook up a bit, and some of
the cobwebs were getting blown out of the brain cells responsible for my
driving, and I had a raw time that was the fastet of the day so far. Of
course, the fact that the first run group, with several folks who usually beat
me, had to run on a very soggy course may have had something to do with it!

The lot dried out pretty much completely during the lunch break we took before
DSP ran. Anyway, I managed to knock over a cone, marking a 180 degree turn,
that was taller than my car. No sweat, on my fourth run (Yes, the Utah region
usually counts four runs) I could easily clean it up and have a shot at FTD.

But such was not to be. Besides a great raw time and a pesky cone, another
thing I picked up on the third run was a slice in one of the ancient Hoosiers
on the tail end of Killer. I've been running this set for a while, since we
corded the other not quite as ancient rear tires a while back. I think, but
I can't swear under oath, that this pair of tires I dug out and dusted off from
the deep recesses of the shop were two of the set of four that Karen Babb sent
me, which they took off the Lotus the last year the Babb's won ASP and ASPL
national championships. The intent was just to make sure they fit under the
fenders, as they were pretty much used up when I got them.

So we have only a few events left this season. Come springtime, I'll likely
spring for a fresh set of the recently announced Hoosier 225/45/13 radials.
But for the last event or two of the year, I can make do with lesser tires.
Anyone have a pair of the Hoosier Autocrossers, 225/45/13, cheap, but still
with a handful of runs left in them?
