Intercooler update/backdate in SP?

Is the intercooler considered part of the engine/turbo combo for
the purposes of update/backdate?  Or is the intercooler unrestricted
cuz it's part of the intake?

If a certain model came with an intercooler but earlier models
did not, can you add the intercooler to the earlier model (all
other street prepared things assumed legal)
