Bill,
I assume that you intended to use female Heims with a threaded rod in the
middle. I highly discourage that, as threaded rod is not particularly stong or
stiff, even in the "strong" versions of the steel.
Instead, call Aircraft Spruce in Corona 909 area code. Get some 4130 tuning
with an ID just a hair smaller than the proper drill size for the threads on
the Heims you wish to use. Drill the ID a to proper dimensions, tap, and
thread a male Heim into it. This setup is much stiffer and lighter than an
equivelant female Heim version. Total cost for tubing, tap and 4 Heims would
be around $70.
If you want to get really trick, you can half left hand versions of the taps
and Heims, and then you can adjust length without having to remove the link
from the vehicle.
