Miata/MR2 DP/FP Question

Can someone riddle me this...

How is the 1st Gen Miata/1st Gen Mr2 are in 2 different Prepared classes.
One would think they would be together.

Just some random thoughts on the 1.5 hour commute home here in Atlanta.
