Due to negative reaction to the way in which the new STS2 and STU classes
came about, SCCA would like to advise the membership of our vision of the
future
with respect to classes in various categories. It is hoped that in so doing,
we will help competitors to plan their future competitive efforts.

The Solo Events Board realizes that there is increased popularity in the
Street Touring and Street Modified categories and waning attendance in some
Prepared and Modified classes, therefore the room for these classes will come
from
recuction in the number of Prepared and Modified classes.

Due to the volume of mail expressing interest in these classes, SCCA would
like to reverse a previous statement that "no new classes would be added until
2007." It is anticipated that the following classes will be added as
"Provisional" in 2005. The Street Touring Advisory Committee will develop
Appendix A
lists for the additional classes, to be added to the Appendix A class listings
for STS, STS2, STU, STX, which are under development.

STX2: 2 seat cars prepared to STX rules, but with 2 seats. Miata, MR-2 and
MR-Spyder, Honda S2000, BMW Z3, Z4 will be included.

STU2: Follows the STU concept, but for high performance 2 seat sports cars
and currently excluded 4 seat cars such as Corvette, Porsche 911, BMW M-3 E46.

Room for these classes will come from the deletion of A/Prepared and the
combination of D and E/Modified. Further examination continues as to the
viability of several other Prepared classes. Further reductions in the number
of
Prepared classes could also make way for STT - Street Touring Turbo, and STT2,
Street Touring Turbo for 2 seaters if the proposed re-alignment of the Prepared
Category doesn't increase entries in B, D, and E/Prepared. The inclusion of
STT and STT2 would solve one of the problems with enforcement of Turbo boost
levels in classes where normally aspirated and forced induction cars both
compete.

Due to continued problems with SCCA's website and mail server, SCCA will use
AOL as its mail server for the near future. If you normally communicate with
SCCA staff members, please use their address with "@aol.com" instead of
"@scca.com" This situation should be resolved in the next month.

Thank you for your continued input into the process.
