Obviously, the 850 is a stout bike.
So, what, are you telling me the 850 is more gravity prone than the 6000?

..so my bike fell off its rack at speed on 87 (this is
a cool Trek 6000, not a Trek 850, which is prone to
crashing, BTW). It bounced around between the trailer
and bike rack,. Fearing it could get ugly if the bike
went under my trailer wheels, I pulled over asap. In

Lo and behold a CHP office arrives almost
immediately (where was the HP the year I ran out of
gas 30 miles from Wendover on the way to the Pro and
waited 3 hours for a cop before hitching a ride in a
semi?).
I apologized for pulling over on the wrong side of
the road (trick learned from Scot Zediker), but
explained the situation. He was cool and asked if I
needed any help. I declined, reattached the bike and
proceeded. My first ever meeting with a cop that
didn't require an autograph.
I was amazed that the bike appeared undamaged, but
riding to work this morning both brakes were binding
and the front derailleur cable snapped. Drat.
