That works fine, and you get to go through Modesto, infamous town of late.
:) There are lots of way to cut across the Central Valley, but watch out,
some of the highways that look sensible actually go north and south. :)

99 is kinda neat, takes you back to 40 years ago, though the highway is
pretty up to date, the stuff along the way is much more interesting than I5.
