I bought the new window channels (u-tubes) from Tanner that are supposed
to eliminate the windows popping out. The driver's side glass was easy
to remove because it had already jumped out of the u-tube but the
passenger side was still glued to it (and "it" was welded to the channel
that the nylon rollers roll through. I imagine that the only way to get
the window and channel out of the door is to remove the (I think that
they are called) wiskers on either side of the glass and kind of spread
the door apart. Is that true? Also, is there any easy way to remove
the window from the old thing it is glued to? I was thinking about some
heat but am hesitant because I understand that some auto glass has a
substrate of plastic. Lastly, any good solvent ideas to cut through
what seems to be the oldest, hardest, petrified white grease (I can't
even scratch this stuff with my fingernail and Brakeleen did not begin
to touch it). Any help is appreciated, Kim.
