why!!!!!

Hi every one...  After some progress im stuck again ... stumped if you 
will...  I have a new battery, starter solenoid, regulator, ignition 
switch... I try to turn it over and the starter clicks like its trying to 
engage but nothing else happens....  and then my negative terminal on the 
battery sparks and gets really hot ... what could be making this happen?
