Power steering pump

I'm not sure if there has been previous discussion on the topic, but my power 
steering pump has gone bad.  I tried to have it rebuilt, but my local shop 
could not restore it to full operation.  My steering wheel sticks, especially 
when I brake to a stop...very dangerous.  

Any suggestion where to send it to have it rebuilt or what I could replace it 
with?  TIA
