I think basic air doors just don't latch as tight as the OEM system. The
hydraulics pulled the doors to the frame tighter at the expense of stress on
the door.
There is also the one hand drop and slam method, but I think it works with
the air latch system only, TT sells it. It closes to tight for the OEM
solenoid to release.
If you are upgrading/restoring your doors, I would recommend TT's air latch
system.
