ask do i like fords or AMCs better.

i ended up with mine because it was a pretty good deal...with AMC, i think
'well it can take a 401 without a sweat and put out over 500hp', if i ended
up with a ford, i'd think 'well, she gets great parts support, being that
ford supports it's heritage better than chrysler"...then i might inquire
what can be done to get the hp with a ford setup--are changes in engine
mounts necessary, etc."

either way you can't go wrong...the bricklin is still such a great value.

i suspect the two most practical camps of brick buyers are 1-bought it all
restored so they didn't bear the cost of restoration (which seemed to be
quoted at $15k on the terry tanner video--which is actually a deal when you
know how much labor it is), 2-got it as a total mess and did much of the
work themselves. i think the worse thing you could do is buy a 'semi-nice'
one to use on a few dates, then decide to pay for the wiring and fuel lines
to be replaced...then pay to have the suspension then...well, you might as
well start with one that was in need of a total resto (like John's) to begin
with! it was priced less than the 'decent driver' but you'll end up putting
as much into it, with terry or by yourself.

if i'm wrong, i don't mind opposite opinions.
