Bob,
Are your kickpanels on the side walls under the dash covered up?   There are 
2 large square holes in them that let a lot of hot air in if they are not 
covered.  Mine were not covered and it felt like I had the heater on.   Also, 
the 
firewall is just fiberglass and heat comes through it if it's not insulated.
