Here's one I did once:
I came in after hours and opened up my neighbor's VTVM. I wired a 100
ohm, 1/4 watt resistor across the AC input leads, just after the power switch.
When he came in on Monday morning ( yawn ), he turned on his equipment. BANG!
POOF! SMOKE!
