Further to the discussion on brake/clutch fluids, I saved Roger Garnett's
excellent list of appropriate fluids for your LBCs for my future reference.

If Roger doesn't mind, I'll reprint the DOT[345] part here.

Roger says:

RG> {NOTE: as always, check the specs for your car!}

RG> Brake and Clutch    
RG>     DOT4 (DOT4 should be flushed and replaced at 2-3 yr intervals)
RG>             -Castrol LMA -Low Moisture Absorbant, easy on seals
RG>             -Girling 
RG>     DOT5 (Silicone) Doesn't absorb water, or remove paint.
RG>             Can be a bit harder to get the air out, and may
RG>             be more prone to boiling in heavy braking usage. 
RG>             Fantastic for long term storage -Good for 5+++ years. 
RG>     (Do not mix DOT4 and DOT5. Do not use DOT3 -it WILL rot your seals.)
