The one that springs to mind immediately is the AC 3000 ME, which was produced
in the late 70's to the early 80's. This used a riogid chassis with a "X1/9"
type of body but physically much bigger, and a GRP body wrapped around it.
It used the Ford "Essex/Cologne" V6 mated to a Maxi (?) 5 speed gearbox.

Quite a good looking but brutish looking car and I have never heard anything
bad about the car by the English motoring press. If memory serves me right
it was made in Scotland.

Thers is also the GTM (?), which uses the front part of a Mini (ie the
engine/gearbox/ suspension) turned around and sitting behind the driver. It
was also available as a convertible (Are they still around).

Then of course the is the Lotus Esprit.
