Move to Arizona

Dear All,
        Is there anyone out there in Phoenix, more specifically Tempe at
Arizona State Uni??  The reason i ask is because i have just been offered a post
-doc down there and wonder what the Brit Car scene is like, ie garages and
machine shops etc.

        When I move down I am thinking about towing my Midget behind my 80
Vanagon (which will be loaded with junk), is a 1980 Vanagon with a good 
motor up to it if I take it easy??  All and any opinions welcome.
