2100 MILES WITH PRIDE

Well I made it to Buellton and back to Portland in my TR-6,
without so much as a hiccup.  It protested the day before I
left, but performed flawlessly during the trip.  I got to spend
last Monday night before the trip rebuilding the clutch hydralics.
Maybe the car just knew they wouldn't last the whole trip so it
made them go out before we hit the road. I'm pretty proud of my car.
The temp guage stayed dead center when ever we were out moving on
the highway even though I ran between 4-5000 rpms all day long. I
wish the passengers had done so well, we saw a sign along i680
that said 102 degrees, we were about to die before we hit Salinas
turned west and the temperature dropped about 20 degrees.

Show summary
There were ~170-175 cars. Which where mostly TR-2 through TR-8s,
I saw only one GT-6, there were less than 5 Spits, half
dozen Stags, 2 Vitesses, 2, or 3 2000s, and a 1800 Roadster.
If memory serves me correctly everything else was TRs. The weather
was beautiful and so were the cars, the quality was amazing.
Something for my car to aspire to, I guess. There was always
something to do.  Friday they had a parking lot set up for
Autosnooker all day and there was a nice tour with winery stops
in the afternoon. One of the winery stops was at the Parker winery
and Fes Parker himself was there, neat.

TRF and Moss both were there. I never made it into the Moss room,
mostly because TRF was there in force, with Charles and 4 employees.
They had over two full rooms of parts, a 20% discount, and no
shipping charges.  I hope they made out ok, as it was very nice to
have that service right at the show, of course the biggest problem
is finding room in your TR for your purchases on the trip home.
It was also very nice of TRF to give out event mugs free to all
registered cars with the meet logo on them.  I think they must
have also helped with the funcourse plaques as the TRF logo was on
them as well.

The funcourse was kind of neat in that even "drivers" like my car
are able to get an award. I was awarded a Silver, meaning my car
garnered between 80-89 points on a 100 point scale (everything is
judged from 3 feet away).

Other memories of the trip;
picking up two cars from Seattle in a rest stop in Oregon and
caravaning to Weed. It was especially cool as we were in the
Mt. Shasta area about sunset, the sight of three TRs nose to tail
with the them sun setting on the moutain ahead of us, NEAT!

Doing part of Hwy 1 in the fog in the dark, not a lot of fun. The
part of Hwy 1 in the day light was really fun though.

Next year the show is in Sacramento, which is a whole day closer
for me, so I'll be there.
