Speaking of Britbikes, I saw a scene near Big Sur a few weeks ago that
made me wish I had a camera.
Along Rt 1 north of Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park, there's a small group of
shops, and in front of the small store I saw 2 old, original (ie, ridden
since new) Triumph twins loaded down with gear for touring. It was a
sight that made me feel nostalgic for trips in my Stag - these two bikes
were not only loaded with stuff like camping gear, but with tools galore
and a respectable quantity of chain and motor oil, some of which was
weeping past the seals as I stood there. Not leaking, just weeping, as
with joy.
