family (hence the name :-) that utilised the A-series
engine (948/1098/1275cc; all Sprites (except for those
pesky Coventry Climax models), and Midgets up to 1974).
By the time 1975 rolled around the Sprite had long been
dropped from the BMC lineup, and the Midget began using
the Triumph 1500 & associated tranny. Cars from this
point on were thus called "Spitfidgets". (Did someone
on this list coin this term ?)
