Dear Larry,
The list often sounds like a conversation among friends who share a common
interest. As in such a conversation, there are excursions from the main
issue. I think that feeling of friendship is good, and will suffer if we
hop all over everyone who does not stick to the point.
I assume that Dan Moore had experienced what he thought was a good deal,
and wanted to share his experience with a group he regarded as his
friends. Granted it was not directly lbc related, and granted he works
for ATT, but I wouldn't immediately assume a commercial motive. To me,
one of the most useful aspects of the group is sharing experience with
vendors of goods and services, so we profit by other's good and bad
experiences. Until I have reason for supposing otherwise, I'll suppose
Dan offered the post in this spirit. I, for one, filed the info away for
possible future reference.
If someone repeatedly plugs something, whether relevant to lbc's or not, I
will complain too.
