Thanks so much for the reply. The car is a 69, Mark III, and the serial number on the spare engine starts with FE. I'll check the one in the car when I get over to the mechanics' shop this morning. It sounds like the parts we got are for a Mark IV 1296. Thanks again to Mike, Marcus, and mjb. Is it fairly normal for a timing chain to be worn at 82K miles? I know some cars with belts have a 60K replacement cycle. ...John Trindle |
