Here's some help with Fords 1968 to 1978 or so:
It's difficult to know where to start... but here goes:
Escort Mk I: Mainly right, but RS2000 was SOHC (Pinto), not DOHC;
there was also the Popular model (1100 and 1300). And don't forget
the Estates.
Escort Mk II: 1975-78. 2, 4-door saloon and estate. 1100, 1300, 1600
engines in Base, L, GL, Sport (1600 only) and Ghia trim levels.
Escort Mk III: 1979-85. 3 and 5-door saloons and estates. Also Orion booted
4-door version. SOHC hemi engines, 1400 (?) and 1700 and 1600 diesel.
Bit hazy on these. Sheet metal change in 1986.
Cortina Mk I: 1300, 1500, 1500 GT; 2, 4-door. Lotus Cortina TC.
Cortina Mk II: 1300, 1500, 1600 GT: 2. 4-door, estate. Std, Deluxe, GT and
1600E.
Cortina Mk III: 1971-75: "coke-bottle" shape: 1600 Kent, 1600 OHC, 2000 OHC
(Pinto). 2, 4-door & estate. Base, L, XL & GXL trim levels.
Cortina Mk IV: 1976-80: As Mk III, but no Kent, plus 2.3V6 (Cologne). Base
L, GL and Ghia.
