May 4 8:45 LAND ROVER SETS ONE-MONTH SALES RECORD

LANHAM, Md., May 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Sales of British-built Land Rover sport
utility vehicles reached a U.S. one-month record in April when 749 units were
sold. This represented a 121 percent increase over April 1993 and is the
result of the introduction of the company's competitively priced Discovery.

"The Discovery has caused an unprecedented response in the marketplace," said
Charles R. Hughes, president, Land Rover North America. "Our dealers report
heavy showroom traffic, especially from families attracted to the dual front
air bags and seven passenger seating capability."

Discovery has an MSRP of $28,900, putting it squarely in the compact sport
utility vehicle market.

The Land Rover Discovery and the 1995 Range Rover County LWB both offer dual
front air bags, the only SUVs to have them.
