Correct color for Ford Kent motor

What is the correct color for a '65 1500cc Ford Kent engine block?
The one I have from a Cortina GT appears to have some redish paint
on it.  Anyone know if that is correct, and if so, what shade of
red it used to be?

The end result will go in a Ginetta G4, if that matters (I would
think all the engines were painted the same color, regardless of
application, but I don't know that to be true).
