More Mystery Car . . .
I pulled down the JPEG pictures from Triumph, and I agree with the
better minds on the net that the mystery car seems to have the general
shape of a Healey 100-4. The hood and trunk look identical to a Healey.
Does the hood (bonnet) hinge at the front like a 100-4? Also, Austin
stamped the rear axle ratio on the axle housing just in from the right
rear wheel. If it's an Austin rear axle, you should see something like

-- This indicates the number of pinion teeth to ring gear teeth.

The numbers are roughly a quarter of an inch in size. If that exists on the
axle, I think it would be another point in favor of it being a Healey.
There should also be a serial number (probably four digits) stamped nearby.
The dash looks different, specifically the four guages in the center.
The windshield however, looks pure 100-4. The lower right hand picture shows
a knurled knob about 1/3 of the way up the windshield post which would be a
pivot and locking point for the adjustable windshield. The bottom of the
windscreen should lift and move forward to assume a lowered "racing"
position. There would have been two chrome pieces (one on each fender, about
a foot in front of the windshield posts) to accept and hold the bottom of the
posts in the lowered position.
