Sure.  When you climb into your original Spridget in the AM, the float
chambers in the carbs are not full.  Turn on the ignition.  The SU pump goes:

tickticktickticktickticktick tick tick  tick  tick   tick     tick      tick

and stops when the chambers are full.  The Facet, on the other hand, goes 

tickticktickticktickticktickticktickticktickticktickticktickticktickticktick

all the time the ignition is turned on.  There must be some sort of bypass
built into it.  Experienced SU folks often think something is wrong the
first time they turn on the ignition on a Facet-equipped car.  They might
think the car is out of fuel!
