I like DP40 but applying the finish coat within one week has always bothered me a bit because it's usually inconvenient for the VERY part time type of restoration work I do. One approach I have tried is to treat bare metal with phosphoric acid to provide some short term rust protection then to re-treat with phosphoric acid again when I had the time to do all of the painting in one session.
