I've come across an early P6 for sale here in Western Australia.
My main interest in it is the motor and gearbox (Celica steel case
5 speed, although its put on the Rover bellhousing, not like the
Dellows or CRS conversion I was looking for), but the rest of the
car is in quite good shape (straight body, no rust that I noticed and
all trim intact, right down to the hub caps). The car's been sitting
since '92, although the owner made some effort to store it correctly
(kept up the coolant, pushed it back and forth to stop the brakes from
binding, motor still turns, oil looks clean). Apparently the S model is
fairly rare. Question is, what (if any) sort of money would the car
fetch in Australia once I've removed the engine and gearbox?
He's asking AUS$1,200. The motor/gearbox is worth about AUS$600
to me (more if I could be sure it runs ok). Further, I'd be getting rid
of
the Solex carbs (won't fit under my Capri bonnet...), are these worth
anything?

Thanks for any help,
Volker.
