I had a similar experience, in 1993 or 1994. I'd known Mike for years, as a
member of Club Elite (still am, but the car is in Japan), and my wife and I were
staying at Mike's house prior to one of his International Lotus Conventions. He
had to ferry several of his cars over to the meet site in San Rafael, so he
needed extra drivers. I was towing my own Seven, but my wife was available, so
he put her in the silver Elite, and threw her into San Francisco traffic in the
midst of our caravan, with no worries about his car. My wife will never forget
that experience, since she loves the Elite (she'd ridden in mine while we were
dating) but had never had the chance to drive one. Mike is one of a kind.
