I am in the process of a ground-up restoration.
For the leaf springs, I sand blasted them, treated them with metal
conditioner and then painted with DP-90. This is a flat black two part
epoxy.
REALLY good stuff if you ask me, pretty much impervious to oils
and road grime, goes on quick and clead dries fast and hard.
