Jeff,
I had the same problem when I first got my roadster (almost 25 years
ago). I tightened the four bolts on the front driveshaft mount only to
find them loose a few months later. The second time I cleaned things up
real good and used loctite, but again found them loose. I finally
replaced them with SAE grade 5 bolts and I have not had any problems
since. I figure the original bolts (SAE grade 3 at best) were yielding
and the small stretch allowed the bolts loosen up. I never experienced
the vibration you mention though.
I have a note taped to my tool box to check these bolts in the near
future. I really don't want the front end of my driveshaft flailing
around.
