Voltage Regulator replacement and upgrade

Mine has a 'generic' replacement,
        NAPA, maybe?  Anyhow, it's a solid-state unit, and it's been REALLY
reliable over the last 10 years. The old coil-resistor-and-contacts
design just isn't cutting-edge anymore <grin>
I know Bosch replacements are upgraded to solid state, but haven't seen
Nissan upgrades...  does anyone know if they're upgraded, too?
