Another type of battery is the Optima battery which is supposed to be
totally enclosed. The only problem w/battery in the trunk is gas build
up, which is why the Miata battery is vented through the trunk floor.
BTW @ Moss the Miata batteries are $75.

One type of battery to consider, are the ones that are used in Mazda 
Miata's. Gell type.I plan on using this type when I get "it" back
together 
again.
