RE Engine numbering/lettering

List,
I have seen the code numbers used for engines on the list.  I know the
U20, H20, R16, L16-18-20 etc... but the others, FJ40 and the leters
folowing?  Some are aluminum heads with iron blocks some 12 valves and
some 16 valves.
Would someone decifer the coding for me on these engines and what cars
they are from.  Which ones are turboed and possibly the power ratings.
