Further to my comments the other day re: Charlie Dever, here is the text of a
message I got from him tonight. Just so folks know what sort of person he is and
what's going on.
Note that he does not dispute that he ordered the merchandise, that he has had
it since *July* without paying for it, that he is fully aware that the agreement
between vendors and ZCCD was always that once an order was shipped out, the mags
can not be returned *for any reason* Those are facts he can not argue with and
he knows it. So insults and veiled threats are all he has left. That and a weak
complaint that the price went up about 10% - the only price increase in the
history of the magazine). AIR insults and veiled threats were what he used with
Calspeed last time too. BTW he sent this email to my personal email address and
also left a threatening phone message on my home phone (guess he either couldn't
read my last message or failed to understand the part about home phones and
personal email addresses). Funny that he seems to find out about posts on this
list that talk about him given that he never contributes to it.
Also, contrary to his claims in the following email, he gave me two reasons when
he first wanted to ship the mags back several weeks ago, neither of which had
anything to do with me being slime :-) The first was that they cost him more
than the last batch (about 10% more and this was based on a 25% increase in the
retail price). When that got him no where he then try to claim they had been
damaged in shipment and that was why he wanted a refund, which I told him had to
have been reported at the time they were received so that a claim could be made
with the shipper. I told him that it was too late to make a claim with the
shippers and so it was his problem not mine. I also reminded him that I had
spoken previously with him at least 10 times since he got the shipment, that he
had assured me each time he was going to send me payment and was satified with
the order, and that this was the first time he had mentioned the damage or his
dissatisfaction over the price increase.
Anyway I know this is not Roadster related, but I did want to give all you
Datsun fans a heads up about Charlie and Sunset Automotive. A good place in my
opinion to avoid at all costs. Also watch out for him selling Datsun merchandise
on ebay.
ON the topic of Roadsters, I may have a 5 speed for sale. Anyone interested
please respond to me privately. Oh and thanks to all those of you who sent an
encouraging email the last few days, I can't tell you how much that has meant to
me.
