Calspeed and the List,

I have found a similar situation here in Northern Virginia, the local Z-Car
Club is very encouraging to roadster owners. (The club president, owns a
roadster now too. Long story, sorry for outing you Mike.) While the aren't
as many roadsters as in the Bay Area (maybe 4 in the club, none I've met).
The Z guys here recognize the significance of their ancestor. That may be
partly due to the fact that a number of guys are original owners of their
Z's. Also helpful is one of the benefits of club membership are the
discounts at local Datsun shops. Something a ~400 local organization can
do, especially with a national umbrella organization.

Just my $0.02

I agree with closing the gap between the different models of Datsun. Z's,
510's, Roadsters... and more. Its all good.

I too have been active in the Z Community here in California. As a member
of
ZONC as well as the SF Coordinator I try to incorporate more Roadster
Activity within the club. I also write and occasional article for the ZONC
Newsletter that is related to Roadsters. ZONC is a fantastic club and seems
to be very open minded about the inclusion of the original Fairlady into the
club. Currently there are roughly a half a dozen Roadsters in the club. A
far cry from the Z membership but that isnt an issue. It is just nice to
get
out with other Datsun Owners. I hope one day that there will be a joining
of
clubs with some local 510 owners. I am sure that it will oneday be a
reality.
