You also might want to presoak some of those old bolts.  They have a
tendancy to snap off back there.  Larry.

Try to empty the tank first but if you can't be very careful. I used a floor
jack with a 2'x3' 3/4 plywood bolted to the head. Worked well and the tank
didn't teeter and fall.

Clean out the trunk and under the mat is an inspection cover so you can
disconnect the sender wires. You'll need to remove the gas line and return
line on the front of the tank (by the rear axle). You'll also need to remove
the rubber hose to which the gas filler tube is connected.

After all that is done remove the bolts holding the tank to the car and
voila.
