There is only one lash pad available for the U20. Supposedly, a common
Mercedes lash pad (180-053-19-52) will work in the stock U20 retainer but I
haven't tried it. These lash pads are thicker than the U20 lash pads and
can be ground down to the required thickness by a machine shop. It is
possible although not cheap and not a "bolt in" mod to convert to L series
retainers. L series lash pads are available in a large range of
thicknesses. Finally, you could have a shop make lash pads for you. Such a
procedure is touched on in the Bob Sharp Competition Prep manual available
on the Datsun.org site.
