I'd like two sets, one for my parts donor and one for my daily driver. Can
you powder coat the poly bag and cinder blocks to match my car? I'll send
you paint samples for color matching.

Don't take Andy's post about "teeter-totter" jack stands too seriously. I
know for a fact that he uses cinder blocks on all four corners. Two per
corner with the holes pointing up, so the tires will fit in them and give a
"chock" action. Since we have ten or so spare tire/wheels handy we place
them
under the frame in case a tire comes off the blocks. For long periods of
storage we put the blocks under the frame rails to keep the tires round. My
motor home is up on blocks right now, but I use four blocks per wheel for it
because of the extra weight.
Two cinder blocks raise the car a little higher than a standard jack can
lift,
so I use a homemade "bull bag" that you place under the car and fill with
engine exhaust. The commercial models used a heavy poly bag and a special
tailpipe adaptor. I use two double-thick trash bags, one inside the other,
and a vacuum cleaner hose. Duct tape the hose to the bags and your tailpipe
and turn on the engine, the bag fills and lifts the car. If you decide to
use the trash bag jack for emergency road repairs you need to carry eight or
ten cinder blocks in the trunk to chock the frame with, in case the car dies
and the bag starts to lose exhaust.
If you want to purchase an "Emergency Roadside Car Lift Kit" I can supply
you
with a standard kit for a slight fee. I can offer an economy kit and omit
the
cinder blocks to save the extra cost of shipping them UPS, but I cannot
offer
the full warranty without the factory cinder blocks. In the Deluxe kit I
offer a choice of colors in the trash bags and cinder blocks of lightweight
aluminum rather than concrete. With three or more kits I will include a
free
roll of duct tape the approximate color of your car. Contact me off-list for
prices. I can deliver the kits to Houston on the 10th or 11th if you want
to
stop by the Gulf Greyhound Park and watch us run.
