I assume that you have stripped off the clear coat, right? If not,
aircraft paint stripper works good, but it will work equally good on your
hands, so protect yourself. Any good metal polish will work. I used
Flitz... good stuff. Afterwards I painted them in the areas I wanted and
reapplied the clear coat after degreasing the wheels with lacquer thinner.
They came out great.
