The female connector is 'C' shaped.  Where the ends fold over form the
friction fit to the male. Gently (GENTLY!) crimp the edges down to form a
tight fit.  Test it with a spare male fitting.  It should be a very snug fit
(wiggle fit you might call it) without have to really force it.
