I have a set of the lights commonly sold
on eBay. In my original 68 roadster
(purchased new) I had two different
types of Cibie's. The very high power
version, which was concave, and the
lower power convex version similar to
what I have now. If I knew the brand
name of the lights I have now I would
tell you what it is. I don't think that
information came with the headlights.

The first difference I noticed was that
the low beam light focus does not seem
as good as the Cibie headlight lenses.
With the Cibie I could see a sharp
defined difference between the dark area
above the lower lighted area. That
transition is not sharply defined with
the headlights I have now. It has a
much wider transition range.

I may not have them properly adjusted
yet, but the high beam is not as good as
my Mercury Grand Marquis (great). The
original Cibie's were very good on high
beam. As I said I may not have them
properly adjusted, and they might be
just a bit high yet. I also don't have
more than about two evenings running
with the brights on.

The bulbs in my current headlights are
H4 bulbs. I just replaced one looking
for a reason why that headlight is
changed from normal to more brown than
white. Both headlights were fine for
most of the summer. It appears I have a
ground problem to chase down to fix.

Any opinions on headlights would be
greatly appreciated. I can buy the
hella's at the local autoparts store, a
big plus. The Cibie's are NLA, but
someone on e-bay is always selling some
knock offs. I have heard the
original cibie's are about the best
thing available. Does anyone have any
experience with the knock offs? I want
to run the 55/100 w bulbs. Any
problem using the factory connectors.
I'm upgrading the wiring up to the
connectors.

Thanks
Ian Miller
