It could be the rubber hose that vents the tank. This hose runs from the top
of the gas tank to the small fitting that comes through the trunk floor next
to the filler hose.
You might be able to get a look at it by pulling the plate in the trunk
floor. This also gives you access to the gas gauge sending unit. That could
also be the source of the leak. But if it's the hose, you'll have to drop
the gas tank to change it.
