Taking a right turn in style

Hey listers,

Today was an epic day in Southern California with cool breezes, bright
sunshine and temps in the 70s. Not a cloud in the sky. It begged for a
roadster drive.

So I took my 67.5 2000 out for a spin and the car was right on. Fast
acceleration and great handling. Solexes roaring through the canyons- what
more could you ask?

On my way home there is a road that descends pretty straight to the bottom
of a small valley. There is a right hand turn at the bottom that immediately
climbs at a steep angle. Today I approached the turn with no one in front of
me so I decided to take the turn in a spirited manner.

Now I am not an autocrosser and have no track experience, but I tried to
remember what I had heard from the wilder drivers that I had known and tried
to hit the apex of the turn right at the corner. Even better, there was a
cobra replica waiting to turn left onto the road I was making my right from
and he got to see my roadster in flight as I took the turn.

I flubbed it a little- actually going too slow and over compensating and got
the ass loose. If I had kept a better rate of speed and used my brakes I
should have held the turn on a tight arc and really dropped the hammer as I
took off up the hill.

Any advice from the more experienced crowd out there on how to make this
turn without killing myself? It's not like I have a track to practice on.

Anyhow, an epic day for a drive and I got to buzz the cobra.

See you on the road!
