| Linda and all,
       The best book I've found is Des Hammill's book "How to build & power 
tune SU carburettors". It is published in England and  available through Amazon 
and no doubt other on line book sellers. A bit on the technical side but 
really covers what you need to know. The SU carbs are very simple in basic 
operation but the details will keep you busy for a long time.
