I may not understand your description; if so please forgive me.
There's a total of eight holes for the seat studs, two holes each in
the four corners. The seat itself can be positioned in the 'forward' holes
(factory default), or placed in the 'rearward' set of holes to gain an
extra inch or so of leg room.
>From the factory, there was sealing tape over the unused holes
(similar to duct tape).
